  At first I couldn't believe it! There were no 1 in rows; no bells rang; no one had to go to 2 Although we all lived"in", 3 made us go to bed at a certain time; there was no "lights out".

  The 4 thing was that practically all the students went to class, 5 very few people stayed up late at night. Only the new people stayed up or 6 class. The new ones always went wild 7 ,but this never lasted long. The 8 took some getting used to. Our teachers treated us like 9 ;never did we have to 10 "stand up", "speak out".   文章设问挖空处干扰性强,几乎每道题都强调上下文的语境理解,对于词汇辨析方面的考查也强调了语言的综合运用能力。

  总的看来,此篇完形填空主要考查以下三方面的能力。

  (一)根据文章所提供的语境来确定词义的能力

  通过快速通读全文,我们了解了文章的大意。此短文题目明确地告诉我们这篇文章说的是“我”在free school的经历。文章第一句话是一个很关键的句子,讲的是作者最初的感受——几乎不相信free school的一切。这就给我们提供了一个大语境:free school和一般学校不一样。在答题过程中,我们要时刻记住这一点。下面简要分析一下受语境影响的各个小题的答题思路。(原题序号不变)

  1.A.题目中提到学校,第一句话又说free school和别的学校不一样,下文又谈到学生可以不必在教室里上课。因此选项A合适,意思是没有成排的课桌。

  2.C.从本段的第一个句子和本句中的bells可判定答案为C。

  3.B.从“Although…”和下文中的“no lights out”可判定此句意为“我们不必按时睡觉”,所以nobody为合适答案。

  4.D.第一段说的free school和一般学校的不同之处就是“free”,而又几乎所有学

  生都主动去上课,所以作者就感到奇怪了,应用strange。

  5.A.几乎所有学生上课和很少有人熬夜属于并列项目,用and连接。

  20.A.此句的前几个句子一直在说数学课,下文又提到numbers,因此,此处选math合适。

  21.C.前面说“我”没有选上数学课,因为我会数字的基本运算,这些就已足够了。

  22.A.从文章的结构来看,最后一段是对全文进行总结,对free school和regular school进行比较,所以用“on the whole”给人一个整体印象。

  (二)根据文章所述事实及生活常识进行逻辑推理的能力

  (三)熟练掌握并灵活运用单词、词组、习语和句型的能力

  10.C.此句考查play的用法。play不仅有“玩”、“演奏”之意,作及物动词时还有“做、干出”之意,此句意为在这里学生不必做出起立、坐下等动作。

  11.D.know of sb.(sth.)意为知道有某人(事物)。hear from意为收到某人的来信,feel like(doing)sth.意为想做事。think about…意思是考虑,此处只有know of合适。

  14.A.菜园和花园只能和这四个词中的planted搭配。

  19.D.这四个选项中,只有figure out(计算出)和数字有关系。

  24.C.difference between…and…为固定搭配。

  在刚接触一个生词的时候,我们不妨先把其进行分类,第一种是按照单词的出现频率分类;另一种是根据它所出现的题型分类,看它是属于写作词汇,还是听力词汇,或是阅读词汇。 对于出现频率较高的单词固然是放在生词表的优先位置。但根据其写作,听力,阅读词汇的分工不同,背诵方法也有所不同。

  首先,对于写作词汇,我们在背诵此类单词的时候要侧重其拼写和用法。 因为这些单词使我们所要用于作文之中的,所以必须保证拼写的准确以及使用的正确。 这类词汇使需要花比较大的精力去记忆的。

  其次,对于听力词汇,我们在记忆的过程中要侧重其正确的发音及意思。 由于这类单词是需要我们把它听出来,而不是看出来。 因而,对已其具体读音的掌握才是至关重要的。建议学生在背诵这类词汇的是后一定要心口合一,边读边记忆。

  最后,对于阅读词汇,与听力词汇不同,我们并不强调对其发音的掌握,也不同于写作词汇,这里也不强调单词的拼写,我们主要侧重词汇与词义的对应。可以记忆单词的大概字母组成,或者可以说是一个单词的轮廓或一些具体的外貌特征,以及其基本的意思,而不用一个字母一个字母的逐字背诵。因为这类单词是出现在阅读的文章中的,我们只要了解其大概,再加上上下文的分析,不难把握其具体词义。
